What is the BBL HEROic?

Sciton's BBL HEROic is a cutting-edge, non-invasive broadband light (BBL) treatment that uses light energy to address a wide range of skin concerns, including pigmentation, redness, sun damage, and signs of aging, with minimal downtime and visible results. It's designed to improve skin tone, texture, elasticity, and overall appearance, addressing issues like sun damage, rosacea, redness, dullness, pigmented lesions, and vascular issues. BBL HEROic can even target excess hair with the Forever BARE setting.

Sciton’s BBL HEROic delivers precise pulses of broad band laser (BBL) energy to the targeted areas of the skin. The light energy targets and breaks down excess melanin and collapses superficial blood vessels.

The treatment stimulates collagen production, which helps to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. BBL HEROic incorporates a cooling technology to ensure a comfortable experience.

  • If you’re looking for improved skin tone and texture, reduction of pigmented and vascular lesions, minimized fine lines and wrinkles, and enhanced collagen production, all with quick, comfortable treatments and minimal downtime, the BBL HEROic is right for you.

  • During the treatment, patients can expect minimal discomfort as the design includes a chilled sapphire crystal on the handpiece to keep skin cool. There is no need for topical anesthetic however providers may choose to use it. Patient’s can also expect potential temporary redness or warmth, and visible results, like improved skin tone and texture, within a few days to weeks. Some patients may experience mild redness or warmth immediately after the treatment, which usually subsides within a few hours. Treated pigmented areas (like sunspots) may initially appear darker, but this is a normal part of the healing process, and they will eventually fade and slough off. The treatment is typically quick, with sessions lasting between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Patients can expect visible results in just 1 to 2 treatments, compared to the 5 to 6 sessions often needed with traditional IPL technology.

  • Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, and tanning lotions for at least 2-4 weeks before your treatment (includes self-tanning products.) Discontinue retinoids (like retinol), glycolic acid, and other exfoliating products for at least a week before the treatment. If needed, shave the treatment area one to two days before your appointment. 

    Arrive at your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin. Drink plenty of water and eat a light meal to prevent lightheadedness during the procedure. Alert your provider if you have a history of cold sores, fever blisters, or herpes.

  • Your body's natural healing process of replacing damaged cells with new cells will begin in the days to weeks following your treatment and will result in revitalized skin.Your skin may be more sensitive to the sun after the treatment, so it's important to avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen.

     Following your provider's post-procedure skincare recommendations is essential to optimizing results and minimizing any potential side effects. You can typically resume normal activities immediately after the treatment.
